State Mission For Clean Ganga, Namami Gange Uttarakhand

The SMCG has been established as a registered society,  by department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Uttarakhand in its capacity as the Nodal Department for implementing the NGRBA/NAMAMI GANGE Program in the State to abate pollution and conserve the river Ganga and its tributaries through preparation and implementation of necessary sub-basin plans, action plans, including provisions of pollution abetting infrastructure, public engagement, and development of advance knowledge and capacity building activities.

The area of operation of the society shall be the Gange River Basin, within the State of Uttarakhand. The Government of Uttarakhand and / or State Ganga Committie (SGC), by executive orders expand the area of operation of the Society to such other river basins, as the SGC may decide for the purpose of effective abatement of pollution and conservation of the rivers in the state.
